Valdez, Alaska

King mountain Thompson Pass, AK

Well we are down in Valdez, AK after spending a few more days in Anchorage. Rode the train on a Glacier view tour and saw a boar tide come in on Cook Inlet. I’m about bored of glaciers, there are so many! They are all magnificent.  Alaska is celebrating there 50th Anniversary of Statehood this year and anyone who turns 50 up here gets a free train ride on the Alaskan Railroad.  I only get a military discount, so this is one of Miss Daisy’s birthday gifts if the Trip itself wasn’t enough.

My motorcycle has almost 80,000 miles on it and looking to change the oil soon.  Some days I think the motorcycle will not get me back to the lower 48 with problems starting to add up.  Still the water pump worries me the most and the rear tire is starting to show wear from those harsh roads I was on.  I feel like a motorcycle test rider again.  But yesterday the water pump did not leak!  It was a beautiful ride through the canyon into Valdez with all the waterfalls.

I really don’t want to leave this last frontier, it yearns at me to try and be a Bush Pilot. I feel like a pioneer here, We are trying to make another adventure driving to Chicken, AK and Dawson City, YK with more gravel and dirt roads. Then we should be traveling south through Whitehorse, YT and on to the Cassier Highway heading to Prince  George, BC.

Got to keep it short as I'm trying to head back up to Eielson AFB for that oil change.
