Flight to Mt. McKinley

Talkeetna, AK Kathy and Stan @ Talkeetna, AK

We made a road trip down to check out the flights available down in Talkeetna, AK to fly to Mt. McKinley.  You can see we weren’t going the first day with the storm clouds around.  Another quaint little town where party animals like to hang out.  Later in our journey when we were in the southern portion of Alaska, we heard of some violence there when too many people drank too much.  I had previously thought all you had to worry about here in Alaska was Grizzlies, Polar Bears, and Moose.

K2 Aviation seemed to have the best deal for us and gave us a military discount.

If you look at the picture to the left, you can see two glaciers in the center right running out of the Don Sheldon Amphitheater.  Our flight path went up the left of Tokositna Glacier and landed in the Amphitheater and took off leaving out the Great Gorge of Ruth Glacier to the right.
