Grizzly Bear store (closeup)
Running about a day behind

Well since Minnesota did not have many campgrounds in the area we were in, we continued into Grand Forks, ND watching the sun set at 10:00 PM and got a hotel room.  Have traveled just over 1500 miles with 73260 mile on the Goldwing. Since leaving Cumberland Gap, been averaging almost 500 miles a day, but keep stopping to see the sites.  My body is starting to feel the pain!  Just ain't that young anymore.  Got higher gas mileage yesterday...38.56 mpg.

Even though we’re still in the US, I feel I have traveled to another country.  I'm learning new vocabulary, mostly in Michigan.
Pasties - pronounced Pass-Tee, are small baked dough like calzone filled with beef, carrots, and potatoes.  Not bad, I'd prefer gravy with mine.  This was the food miners brought down to the mines since it had everything in it.
Yooper - Is a person that lives in the upper peninsula ("U-P") of Michigan, They call the people who live in the lower half "Trolls."

Seems like Michigan slowed us down with so much to look at and its been hard to do more than 500 miles a day. We will be entering Canada today.  Still avoiding the few storms we come against ... it is almost like flying, the roads I have picked seem to navigate around them...I see most of the severe stuff is down in the south US.  The days seem to be getting longer...On the way traveling up in Michigan I passed a sign saying I was halfway between the Equator and the North Pole, which is the 45th Parallel.

The Mackinaw Bridge is known to motorcyclist for it high crosswinds, we had no problem crossing it, as it was a very nice day despite the storms you can see to the north.

We camped out in Michigan by Lake Superior.  Yes that is smoke from our morning campfire, it was a bit chilly at this primitive campsite with no showers.

Took the picture of McDonalds due to the old style arches, which I only remember as a child.  On our way into Wisconsin, there wasn’t much in Minnesota to take a picture of with the route we took.
